About Inspire!
Inspire! is a registered charity, formed in 2004, and is the Education Business Partnership for London Borough of Hackney. Education Business Partnerships (EBPs) are organisations that support the education, training and development of young people by linking businesses and their employees with schools and colleges.
We broker links between local and City employers/employees and schools and colleges in Hackney. Employers and their employees partner Inspire! to develop and deliver programmes that enable young people to learn about work and gain practical experience of the skills and attributes they need for employment.
We also deliver programmes that are tailored to engage young people who are at risk of being excluded from mainstream education or are not in education, employment or training (NEET).
Our aim is to raise the achievements and aspirations of young people in Hackney, develop their motivation and skills for the world of work and increase their ability to choose and achieve positive career, life and learning goals.
Since its establishment, Inspire! has grown rapidly, now employing a staff of 20 who are based in our office in Dalston. More than 15,000 young people take part in our programmes each academic year, involving over 1,200 volunteers from over 300 employers. On work experience alone, we organise 1,700 work experience placements annually, with more than 800 companies hosting students.
Our activities include:
- Mentoring programmes for children and young people
- Enterprise and work-related learning workshops in schools and colleges
- Curriculum support and enhancement
- Personalised learning for disengaged young people
- Work experience placements for students in Key Stage 4 and 5
- Professional development opportunities for teaching staff
