Volunteer for us

Employee volunteering opportunities

We rely on employee volunteers to inspire and motivate the next generation. Our corporate volunteering opportunities in London schools and colleges help businesses to connect with and support local young people.

We welcome individual professionals or groups of employees from a wide range of industries. You don’t need experience of working with young people, just plenty of enthusiasm! We will provide briefings beforehand and support you on the day.

Volunteering Opportunities in Primary Schools

Volunteering in a Primary School gives children an early understanding of work and opens their eyes to a world of opportunities.

Volunteers visit schools to talk about their jobs, introduce pupils to their workplace, or take part in enterprise workshops. Opportunities include:

  • Introduce pupils to your job in STEM during their iDiscover week
  • Host a workplace visit during Work Week and let pupils become employees for a day
  • Use your fashion, finance or marketing skills to judge an Ethical Enterprise Fashion Show
  • Become a ‘dragon’ and judge children’s inventions at a Dragons Den!

Volunteering opportunities in Secondary Schools and Colleges

Volunteering in a secondary school or college allows students to meet professionals from a wide range of sectors. This provides insight into different career paths and helps to prepare young people for the future.

Volunteers introduce their careers to students and help them to understand the skills and qualities employers look for. Opportunities include:

  • Take part in a Careers Carousel and explain your job and career path
  • Present at an interview skills or CV building workshop
  • Deliver a talk about your job to students studying related subjects
  • Join an enterprise workshop and help students build their own business

Sessions run throughout the academic year and can take place over a few hours or whole school day. We will match you or your team to the most appropriate opportunities based on your location, availability and professional background.

Mentoring Opportunities

A volunteer from Sanctuary Housing reads with a pupil at Kingsmead Primary SchoolOur mentoring programmes involve employee volunteers supporting a child or young person on an ongoing basis. Participating pupils may have additional needs or be facing challenges at school. Current programmes include:

  • Primary Mentoring: Visit a primary school once a week or fortnight and help a child develop their literacy or numeracy skills. Companies will be partnered with a local school and each volunteer will be matched with a pupil for the academic year.
  • Challenge Mentoring: Help a Year 7 student struggling with the transition to secondary school. Mentors meet with their mentees once a week and set challenges, aiming to improve their confidence and motivation.

Inspire! will broker the relationship between a company and school, and offer training and support to volunteers.

What are the benefits of employee volunteering?

Corporate volunteering can help your company connect with the community, develop employees’ skills and enjoy time away from the office! Our volunteering opportunities require only a small time investment, ranging from a couple of hours to a school day, making it easy for individuals or organisations of any size to participate.
