Inspire! are working with The Challenge to run HeadStart Action Hackney.
HeadStart Action is a new project which helps young people gain skills and experience for the world of work. It involves taking part in social action to help your local community, while preparing for future employment.
Who can apply?
To sign up, you must be:
- Aged 14 – 19
- Living or attending school/college in the London Borough of Hackney
The project is suitable for you if you are either:
- Not in employment, education or training (NEET);
- Leaving school/college in the next year and unsure of your next steps;
- Struggling to achieve your potential at school/college;
- Low in confidence, motivation, or worried about the future.
What will HeadStart Action involve?
The project will combine:
Mentoring: Inspire! will provide a friendly mentor who will work with you one-to-one. Your mentor will assess where you need support and help you set personal goals.
Social action: You will work in a small group to come up with a community project idea. Inspire! will help you to identify a need in your local community, and plan a project to address it. Taking part in the project will help you to gain key employability skills.
Work experience: You will be offered an interview with an employer for a work experience placement. We will help you practice for interviews and make the most out of a placement, if successful.
